How LiDAR Enables Autonomy of Things in Industrial Robot Technology

LiDAR impacts AoT™ in applications like construction, logistics, mining, manufacturing, mobile robotics and robotic drone delivery, agriculture, medicine and gaming. In these cases, the primary role of LiDAR is to enable perception for moving things – cars, trucks, satellites, underwater unmanned vehicles (UUVs), robotic arms, robots, drones, machines, industrial robot technology and equipment, tools, and more. Unlike autonomous vehicles (AVs) where the primary function of the LiDAR is to provide a unique perception modality to enable safe operation, these other applications have productivity, efficiency, scene mapping and precision positioning and guidance as their primary goals. LiDAR enables these goals by providing 3D sensing of various objects or things in the environment.
